Abstract
In a series of studies on the influence of hydrostatic stress on the plastic deformation of polycrystalline metals subjected to cyclic stressing , in the present paper , the 巴xperimental studies on low-cycle-torsional pulsating of 0 .15 per cent carbon steel under hydrostatic pressure at room t巴mperature were presented. 1 t wωconcluded that cycle-dependent plastic deformation of the m巴tal under combined stress cycling aild hydrostatic pressure was re markably larger than that in atmosphere.ln order to elucidate the difference of the behavior of plastic deformation of the metal subjected to cyclic stressing under hydrostatic pressure and that under atmospheric pressure , the unified correlation between Bausching巴r effect of the material and the influeilce of hydrostatic stress was discussed. It wぉobviously öbserved that Bauschinger strain under combined stress cycling and hydrostatic pres訊rre was larg er than that under atmospheric pressure. Therefore , it was considered that the Bauschinger effect of the material subjected to low-cycle-torsional stressing was mor巴 remarkably occured under combined hydrostaic pressure than that under atmospheric pressure. From the se facts , it was suggested that the barriers against the movelJlent of dislocations wa s decreased by combined subjection of hydrostatic stress when the direction of applied st ress was changed during one cycle of stressing.
