Abstract

RESUMO A meningite fúngica é uma afecção rara, de difícil diagnóstico, associada a uma alta mortalidade. Os autores relatam o caso de uma lactente com quadro de febre, que evoluiu com hipertensão intracraniana e óbito, apesar da instituição de terapêutica fungicida. O diagnóstico foi obtido através da demonstração direta de elementos sugestivos de Aspergillus sp., em material colhido por punção de fontanela bregmática. O tratamento baseou-se no uso de Anfotericina B. Unitermos: meningoencefalite, Aspergillus sp, lactente, pneumopatias fúngicas. ABSTRACT The fungal meningitis is arare disease, of difjicult diagnosis, associated with high mortality. The authors report the case of a newborn infant withfever, who developed intracranial hypertension and died, in spilt of the fungicida! medication. The diagnosis was based on the direct demonstration of elements suggesting Aspergillus sp. in the specimen obtained by puncture ofbregmatic fontanel. The treatment was based on the use of Amphoterian B.
