Abstract

In this paper, we propose a semantically-informed and geometrically-accurate virtual geographic environment method which allows to use Geographic Information System (GIS) data to automatically built an Informed Virtual Geographic Environment (IVGE). Besides, we propose an abstraction process which uses geometric, toplogic, and semantic characteristics of geographic features in order to build a knowledge-based description of the IVGE relying on a hierarchical graph-based structure. Our IVGE model enables the support of large-scale and complex geographic environments modeling for Situated Multi-Agent Systems (SMAS) in which agents are situated and with which they interact.
