STEM AND STEAM IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF PHYSICS: HISTORY AND MODERNITY

Abstract
<strong>Purpose of the work</strong> is to acquaint interested scholars and teachers with the features and problems of the modern school, in particular the use of STEM and STEAM education in pedagogical practice. <strong>Research methodology</strong> is based on the concept of modern education. The research is focused on meeting the demands of physics teachers, as well as the scientists involved in the development of education. Long experience in school as a teacher of physics, preparation of tasks for All-Ukrainian open tournaments of young inventors and rationalizers and management of work of jury of this mass extracurricular event, scientific management of territorial branch of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, etc., allow to make STEM and STEAM education in Ukraine and beyond. <strong>The scientific novelty of the study</strong> is that the author first showed the dynamics of formation of STEM and STEAM education, its history and prospects for its further development. The results of the study were reported at scientific conferences of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. They are also used in the educational process at the TG Shevchenko National University «Chernihiv College» and the KD Ushinskiy Postgraduate Pedagogical Education Institute in Chernihiv. <strong>Conclusions</strong>. STEMs and STEAMs have their own history of development in the republics of the former Soviet Union. More than 70 years ago, there were circles of technical creativity in both schools and out-of-school educational establishments. Therefore, we should not talk about introducing STEM and STEAM education in our country, but about its further development, taking into account the pedagogical experience of the Western countries.
