Abstract

This study aimed to report the History of Education in Western Paraná, told by the voice of those who lived this historic moment. The literacy teacher in question Maria de Lourdes, a lay career teacher, who, without ever having reached the position of a trained teacher, dedicated almost her entire life to teaching, has lived for many years in rural reality, understanding the experience of settler communities by providing to this, a greater "ease" in the care and pedagogical work with its students, mainly because they are multiseries rooms. The reinterpretation of historical events was made from a recorded interview thus giving credibility to the historical narrative. We will present another part of the story that experienced by the subject and told from his experiences in the educational field of literacy. Much has been questioned about what would be the most appropriate way to teach reading and writing, however, the teacher knew how to develop in her profession without such research, based only on her literacy teacher, which induces us to reflect on the actions and theories that guide the literacy teaching process.
