Abstract
The legacy model of academic publishing, based on the primacy of scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals, seems to be widely called into question these last few years. Nowadays, scholarly exchanges take place through many other channels, online research notebooks, mailing lists, social networking services dedicated to specialists or to the general public. The researchers are asserting their digital identities on the Web, producing new kinds of visibility outside traditional publication channels. In this new networked environment, research lab 2.0 and arena for information exchange and scientific debate at the same time, libraries could play a significant role. Without giving up their traditional missions - collecting, archiving, cataloging, they may renew them. Curating and archiving those new kinds of publications, working toward the perennial identification of authors and works, training to the proper use of digital tools and platforms, those are some new tasks for librarians to undertake.
