Abstract

People and animals always need to live together with their similars. Between mother and offspring, from the earliest moments of life, an attachment is established , finalized at physiological needs nutrition, and to the affectionate care. Attachment is a primary motivational system development that pushes the child to a specific relationship with his mother; it is activated from real or threatened separation. The most obvious difference between man and animal is the duration of the care and protection that puppies receive from their parents. Mammals need, for example, to stay close to the mother only for a few months; man remains with the family until adulthood, meeting not only the physiological needs, but also and especially those affective. The quality of parental care, that the child receives in his first years of life, is crucial for his future mental health. It is essential for mental health that the child have experience of a stable relationship, intimate and warm with his mother or with other figure of reference. Many psycho-nevroses or character disorders are resulting from: the deprivation of maternal care, the discontinuity in the mother child relationship, early internalization of attachment figures disturbing, or traumatic events such as bereavement or a long separation. When the child is not guided and supported in the moment when they enter into relationships with the surrounding reality, and in this specific context, in the first entry in the world of the school, there is the risk of developing serious damage at the cognitive level, in terms of delays in the acquisition of different skills. When the subject in developmental age has not internalized the healthy relationship, or the awareness to have accessible and available presence of their caregiver, he suffers from separation anxiety often combined with school phobia.
