Abstract
Bilingualism is such an obviously impressive phenomenon in a multiethnic, multicultural and multilingual society like Iran that intrigues lots of inquiry especially when it comes to educational and institutional level. This paper seeks to illuminate the status of bilingualism in the educational policy of Iran and clarify the possibility of educational bilingualism in Iran under the light of its legislation. This study investigates the way the Iranian educational system deals effectively with the linguistic pluralism by investigating its educational policy, language planning and legal potentiality by trying to go through the status of bilingualism as reflected in language policy and educational system of Iran and also to know whether the legislation of Iran permits it to be actualized educationally.
