Disorders of swallowing are severe consequences of brain lesions. Evaluation of the act of ingestion is an important interdisciplinary problem. The development of dysphagia leads to a high risk of medical complications, increases the risk of sudden death. Epidemiological data on dysphagia can not provide global insight, due to the variety of causes and nosologies that cause it. The most important factor in the diagnosis of dysphagia is a thorough examination of the patient, which will help to establish the version of dysphagia, the conditions of its occurrence and possible ways of its resolution and causal characteristics of the occurrence. This article highlights the most frequent causes of these violations. Modern methods of diagnostics, methods of treatment and management of patients with dysphagia and speech disorder are also considered.
